Heriberto Villaseñor
KIVA: The Voice of the Ancestral Communities
THIS INTERVIEW IS Now Available!
“Being around a KIVA fire with Elders from around the world is like an orchestra of harmony and prayers. When the Elders gather, and their prayers are offered, ancestral memories that may have been gone for a long time start to revive and awaken. The Universe is enriched by these sounds. It is an honor to help this harmony to happen.”
— Heriberto Villaseñor

Biography
Heriberto Villaseñor ‘Tecolotzintli’ is the Director of Roots of the Earth. Born in Mexico and a descendant of Grandfather Caxcan, for 41 years he has been in contact with the work of the Red Road. He is a direct disciple of the visionary and medicine man Raymundo Tigre Perez, who revived the Kiva ceremony, known as the Heart of the Earth, where ancestral guardians of Mother Earth gather in a single prayer. Since 1989, Heriberto has dedicated over 35 years to spiritual work, expanding the KIVA ceremony across three continents uniting people from jungles, mountains, and deserts around a single fire. He is also the spiritual leader of ceremonies like Vision Quest and Sundance in Mexico, USA, South America and Europe. As a spiritual son of the Oglala family of South Dakota he has been entrusted with these profound traditions for many years. Heriberto’s mission is to bring together diverse spiritual paths and beliefs into one fire, one prayer. In 2025, he is the visionary and organizer of a global pilgrimage, where Kiva ceremonies will be held on all five continents, gathering wisdom keepers from across the Earth.
