Biography
Jay Bird is a Jiisikaan (Shake Tent) Conductor. He is Bear Clan and from the Batchewana First Nations of Ojibways, Sault Ste Marie Ontario. Jay Bird started attending ceremonies at the age of 4 within Batchewana First Nation and began spending his time watching and eventually sitting at the drum. In 2010, at the age of 34, the Batchewana First Nation chief and Council presented him a Pipe,Niishawswea Aanakwadoon (Seven Clouds). Shortly after, Jay inherited the Jiisikaan (Shake Tent) Ceremony Teaching and started his journey as a healer and Jiisikaan Conductor. He and Sweetie travel across Turtle Island (the US and Canada) offering these teachings and healing modalities.
Sweetie Bird is from Lac Du Flambeau, Wisconsin, Ojibwe. She and Jay are Traditionally married and a team. She assists Jay with Shake Tent, and is beginning her own practice in one-on-one doctoring, and healing sessions. Sweetie is also available to support women around issues that have to do with marriage, parenting, and other things related to women's spiritual, physical, and mental health. Specializing in resilience, Jay and Sweetie work together providing individual sessions for anyone seeking healing from trauma, loss, injury or illness, and spiritual guidance for those seeking to find the purpose and path that Spirit has for their life. These sessions may be done in person or on Zoom. They assist people at every stage of life, walking with people from birth to death, assisting in crossing over loved ones, and in supporting their families.
